Petition Demographics: Who Signed So Far?
On 5/26/08, FixFlex conducted an analysis to examine who was signing our petition. Two factors stood out.
First, the employees who have signed our petition come from the entire UI Community (see pie chart below).

Second, UI employees who have signed our petition tend to have modest incomes (average salary = $58,507; nearly 50% of petition signers have an income less than $50K).
One of the central concerns of FixFlex is that UI employees were not adequately represented in the process that has unfolded in the past year. For instance, Faculty Senate and Staff Council were not briefed in detail regarding the major re-evaluation of the benefits system undertaken by FRIC until FRIC’s evalution was complete.
To put this concern about representation in context, we present salary data below for the 16 FRIC Members and Liaisons in comparison to that of the FixFlex petition signers.
